I've always needed more than a moment of silent meditation on this day. I don't have the right words. Just love and honor each other. BBDish will return with live feed updates later on this afternoon.
Thank you for remembering... My ex-wife and I were living in NYC at the time and it was so traumatic for both of us!
She worked 4 blocks from the towers and saw it happen from her window... We were on the phone as soon as it happened and while talking, the second plane hit!
The phone lines all went down and I couldn't call her... however we were able to communicate online..
Good morning Carolyn, on this day of reflection and thanks!!!
Should have figured that you would do something that showed the class we have all come to expect from this site...
I never had the privledge to see that image in person, but remember those towers rising above the New York skyline just as we all did on that fateful day...
From one side of the world to the other we have all been affected by the shocking events of Sept. 11. 2001. A Word of Thanks to all the men and women around the world of Police, Medical, Postal and Firefighter Departments, for having placed and continuing to place their lives on the front lines of this here war on terrorism.
A prayer for all Military Departments and Personnel involved in this war against terrorism. That the men and women return safely, and that they and their families be comforted during the passing holidays.
A Special prayer for all the surviving families and friends of the victims of Sept. 11, 01 all around the world who will now face life, without their loved ones, in a physical form...
A prayer for those who have lost their livelyhoods, that they may rebuild and be comforted.
A prayer for the opressed peoples of Afganistan that they may be able to rebuild their lives, towns, and country.
Hi Carolyn and to all BBDishers, I had posted this on a earlier post.I thought it would be better if those who hadn't read it before could do so now.I truly hope it helps all of us get through this today.
We Will Never Forget
Dedicated to the memory of those lost and the heros' of September 11th,2001.
We will never forget that freedom comes at a cost,
On that fateful day in September of the lives that were lost.
Why did this tragedy happen to you and to me,
All we ever wanted was to live, love and be free.
We live in a country where our freedom rings true,
Standing tall beneath our flag the ole red, white and blue.
They thought to make us live our lives in great fear,
Oh how wrong they were it only caused us pain and tears.
Now we have come togetheras one nation to say,
We will never forget,we are strong and are here to stay.
To the American people and to those who have lost loved ones and to the many heros of 9/11.I wrote this in the hopes that we will never forget and come together as one in the battle for freedom. With all my love and prayers to all.
This is honestly one of my favorite things about your blog, Carolyn. Every single time you get me. Love you lots! I'm glad that each and everyone one of you are a part of life, even if it is only for a few months a year.
I will never forget that day or anything about it. I remember watching the news that morning as it happened, and trying to explain it to my son. Thank you for the rememberance.
My thoughts and prayers are with all who were lost on 9/11/01. Let us also remember our Nation's soldiers on battlefields far from home and for the men & woman on U.S. soil that are diligently defending our nation and keeping us safe.
We must join with every American in the fierce and solemn promise: never again!
In Memory of My Brother: James Thomas Fitzgerald, Jr. "Jimmy" / 1-28-50 to 9-11-95.
Carolyn, thank you for giving us this opportunity & outlet to reflect today.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields.
I was working in mid-town on that fateful day. My co-workers and I could see the towers from our office windows. Afterward, most of us were in shock. Later that day I walked through Times Square on my way home. All the neon lights were lit but the streets were deserted. It was surreal.
Spending the day reflecting on what we've lost and being thankful for what we have.
That is a beautiful photo Carolyn thank you for posting. While a great many Americans will never forget 9-11-01, I am afraid some have forgot that horrible day, and to many ppl have let their guard down. We must never forget that painful day nor should we ever forget about all the great men and woment serving this great country keeping us safe. This morning on the news they were showing the events as it happened minute by minute. I didnt want to see it again after watching it as it happen 8 years ago. It was too painful to watch then and it still is. My family and I will never forget the tragedy of that day, and all the pain of so many families that lost love ones. God Bless America and we can not and must not ever forget.

It has always been a little surreal sharing a birthday with this day. The thought that came to my mind when I woke to this on 9/11/2001 was first,"it's my birthday!," followed with, "oh, it's not all about me." And that thought remains to this day...it's not all about me.
Sherry it must be hard have to celebrate your birthday today, but thats what everyone is doing, they are celebrating those lives that were lost. They are remembering all the wonderful times they shared. So you get to celebrate life on a very special day.

It has always been a little surreal sharing a birthday with this day. The thought that came to my mind when I woke to this on 9/11/2001 was first,"it's my birthday!," followed with, "oh, it's not all about me." And that thought remains to this day...it's not all about me.
God Bless America
My prayers & love to all those affected by 9/11.
xoxo
Sherry it must be hard have to celebrate your birthday today, but thats what everyone is doing, they are celebrating those lives that were lost. They are remembering all the wonderful times they shared. So you get to celebrate life on a very special day.
Happy Birthday!!!!
