Derrick Speaks to the Feedsters

Just as I closed the Overnight Report, I notice Derrick sitting by himself at the jacuzzi.

As luck would have it, Victoria's just gone inside, and Derrick takes the opportunity to  speak directly to the feeders again.☺

Love it when that happens.  Let's listen in...

4:17am
Jacuzzi
Camera 1
Derrick

Derrick: In a decent spot right now.   Decent spot.   What up to all the feedsters.  Whoever's watchin' right now...  Sorry I'm borin'.  You know how it goes, man.  Later in the season, there's definitely some stuff goin' on, but these days is kinda like down time, especially when you know who's goin ' home.  But, we're still preparin' for if there's a double evict, ya know?  So.. You guys already know if there is or not.   But either way, we gotta prepare for it like it is. Gotta have somethin' set up.

Derrick: So far, lookin' pretty good.  I'm in a pretty good position right now. Obviously subject to change, but as long as I don't put my foot in my mouth, I should be ok.

Derrick: If anybody from the midnight shift is watchin' this back at work, I love you guys.  I hope you're safe.  I hope you had a safe summer.  I hope everyone's healthy and in good spirits.  I hope the department's doin' well, and um.. I don't know.. You guys might be watchin'.  You guys got your iphone open or somethin'.. Might be watchin..

Derrick: To all the police and fire out there, I hope I'm makin' you guys proud.  I'm tryin' my ass off.   Tryin' to be the next Tony here.  See if it can work.  Back to back.  Cop wins Survivor, then a cop wins Big Brother. That'd be pretty good.  That'd be pretty good.

Derrick: Aww, man.  Man o man.. I'm in the Big Brother house.  Crazy.  I've been here for 76 days.  Even more crazy.  Nuts, actually. This could be my last time outside here.  I'm gonna sleep in in the morning.  There'll be a lockdown tomorrow.  And obviously Thursday.  This could be.. my last time in this backyard.   I don't think it's gonna be, but it damn well could be. Damn well could be.  If it is, it was a good run.  Played a game of pool, sat in the hammock.. here in the jacuzzi.  It'd suck to be a have Not goin' home.  I would get a good cheeseburger when I got outa here, that's for sure.  Damn!

Derrick: Gotta get there, man.  Gotta get there.  Just get me in that final 2.  Just get to that final 2, Derrick, and you'll pull this off.  Just gotta get to the Final 2.. That's all you gotta do.  Do not trip up.  Just get to the Final 2.  You'll make it happen.

Derrick: Well! (slaps knees)  On that note, I'm gonna brush my teeth, and go into my ice box.  If this is my last time in this backyard, I love all you guys, and appreciate all the support, and uh, I'll be talkin' to you guys again soon on the feeds.

Derrick: (gets up)  Let's hope it's not my last time in the backyard.  I kinda like it here.

And that's that... Thank you for being a part of the dish!

Thanks (as always) for your stellar transcriptions and especially the evening reports the last couple of nights because I, like others, have needed a break after another disappointing move in the house.

I have to say that I personally have found this season to be more discomfiting than previous seasons because I have felt like there has been a lot of behavior that is at best sexist. Beginning most notably with Caleb's emotionally abusive tendencies with Amber that were manipulated into game strategy by the other men, I have found myself getting more and more disturbed by the attitude ALL of these men take toward the women of the house. When Derrick angrily decried the other day that he thought he had Victoria, but now she was starting to think for herself my flesh crawled. I've been a loyal DishChick for years(since part way through BB8 I think), though I rarely, rarely comment, but this has really been bothering me! Thanks, again, Carolyn, for what you do and a safe forum in which to express ourselves.

I have been concerned throughout this whole process, that he is TOO good at convincing the others that it was their idea to do what was really what he wanted to be done in the game. Convincing them that he was the mastermind is going to take some effort, but it think he's up to the challenge!

My vote is for Derrick. He has played such a great strategic mind game. He may not be good at comps, but he has proven it does not even matter. GO DERRICK, take it home!!

The best player to play in this house in many a season. Derrick has been a breath of fresh air from all of the "drama" that everyone so desires. When people have called this season "boring", if they would have concentrated on the game that Derrick has played it has been damn near flawless. He could write a manual on how to play BIG BROTHER. To listen to him talk to the other houseguests and listen to how he puts everything in place, just like a chess game, has been a privilege. People have to remember, THIS IS NOT A POPULARITY CONTEST OR A LIKABILTY CONTEST, OR "BULLIES AND VS. THE WEAK" it is BIG BROTHER! There is a way to play this game and Derrick has maintained that standard to its highest form. I, for one, an grateful to Derrick for bringing THE GAME of BIG BROTHER back to this season.

Hi everyone! This is my first time commenting but I'm on here reading bbdish every day - thank you for putting this together :-)

I'm pulling for Derrick to win. I feel like he is truly a good person and has been playing this game with integrity. I just love hearing him talk to the feedsters and am really routing for this good guy to win and bring one home for his boys in blue!

@atxnnok I have said the same thing, but Nicole coming back into the house was a blessing for Derrick because she is going to go back to jury and campaign for him. Nicole still doesn't realize he is the king pin, don't know if any of them do. What I am most surprised at is someone as smart as Frankie not knowing. If Frankie had actually watched BB instead of reading about it on Wikipedia he would realize that Derrick is playing Dan's game. Is he as good? In my opinion no, because he is not the original. Who knows if he would have played the game this way if he hadn't watched Dan, but is he a good student and is he as smooth as silk? Pretty much. I don't really care for Derrick, but his contenders (Cody, Caleb, Frankie, Christine) all have serious personal flaws making it difficult for me to root for them.

Good Morning Goddess of the Dish and all my other BB Buddies!

I'm so happy to see so many Derrick fans in the house!

@axnnok.....I have been concerned about the same thing. I'm very curious about his speech if/when he makes it to final two. It should be a doozie. I'm kind of getting the feeling that he wants to take Victoria to final two to be absolutely sure he wins.

@Ron Baker...I could agree with you more. I think he is just as good as Dan. It is masterful how he is able to manipulate the game the way he wants it to go. He even out plays Frankie in the mind games and Frankie will be shocked when he gets out of the house and sees everyone's reactions to him.
I wish I had just half the self-love that Caleb has! lol It is really hard to take listening to him constantly bragging on everything he does. He also thinks he is the most handsome in the house and now he wants to take acting lessons because he thinks he would be a fantastic actor (his words). It's also amusing to see how he discounts Derrick as being nothing to compete against in the game.

It's about this time EVERY year that some of the houseguests start thinking that they 'are all that and a bag of chips'. Caleb thinks they are going to have a limo and a parade waiting for him everywhere he goes. Lol I thought it was very amusing last night when Caleb and Frankie were talking about America’s Favorite Player and they both agreed that there was no way in hell that Donnie would get that money.
Caleb is sure if he isn’t in the final two that he will get that award because everyone in America loves him. Delusional much????

Here, here Ron Baker!! You said it so much more eloquently than I would have, but I completely agree with everything you said!!
I'm also so very tired of listening to people comment about how boring this season is. If it's boring, then you are watching more for entertainment than game...and that's fine, but don't hate the game because your favorite isn't playing it the best!
As for the issue that Ravenbelle brought up about sexism...that's always been an issue in this game. Not that every player has participated in this, but it's always been a stigma that the guys carry the girls, because the really strong girls are pushed out early. And honestly, it's because the weaker girls will help vote out the stronger girls in lieu of protection. So you can't completely blame the men in all of these instances!
Also, I've noticed that year after year the viewers are getting much more sensitive to things that are not meant to be hurtful. (Barring last year, which was a very hurtful season!) But I loved Evel Dick as much as the next viewer, but what he did and said to Jameka, Amber and Jen far surpassed the statement you quote Derrick as making, which I believe he was referring to having carried her along and was now irritated she was starting to play her own game...I think he would have said that about any HG, male or female, who seemed to be completely out of the game loop.
Just my opinion, and I respect yours as well. I just think we need to remember that when it comes to sexism in this game, this season would be far down on the list of most sexist.

I agree with Ron Baker, if you watch and listen to everything Derrick does in managing the other HG it is like watching an artist creating a work of art, or watching a spider create a beautiful web. Is that boring? I like it much more than the bull in a china shop approach to BB. I have always liked a calm house, not one constantly in upheaval. I, too, am a little apprehensive that Derrick's game may be too subtle for the jury to detect, and I hope he can rack up a couple of big scalps here in the waning days to cement a victory.

Obviously Derrick has played the best game in the house THIS year, but I dont see his game being any more special than Lane's, Hayden's, or even Enzo's. I see this year as the Brigade 2.0 Derrick is Enzo or Lane

10:41 a.m., cams 3/4 - Derrick and Nicole having a convo where Nicole is revealing some revelations she had about what's going on in the house (most of which is correct) and Derrick making her feel very very guilty for thinking such things. Why Derrick has to lie so hard core to her when he knows she's going home, I don't know. I guess he's scared she'd blow up his game before she left.

This is great, a great catch Carolyn. I went to bed at 3 AM.

Nothing Derrick says surprises me as far as strategy since I have listened and watched his brilliance all summer. I take his play over a showmance any day. I love that he is such a fan of the game and takes it all in. Every move of his has been strategy, except for his grandpa dying. I like strategy over cult of personality - even if boring. Chess is boring to watch for most... but not those who love it.

The only thing that still is up in the air to me as far as his play... how will he put up or vote out Victoria without losing her. Granted, she said she would give up her game for him... maybe he can use that as a move. The best thing for him would be if the Final 5 HoH puts up Victoria and is also a tie breaker. Derrick does not want to win the F5 HoH in my opinion... then he can't play the important F4, where he would be safe and a guaranteed F3.

I loved Tony on Survivor. So smart and insightful. And feel the same about Derrick on every level. He has played a hell of a game. And if Frankie even thinks a little bit that Derrick is the male Victoria which he joked yesterday... Derrick should be golden. They all would take him to F2... except for maybe Caleb who wants to beat 'the best'.

I believe Derrick and Cody have both been loyal to the Hitmen all summer long... now they need some luck.

I most heartily agree with Ron Baker. Derrick is definitely a breath of fresh air in the house this year. Even though he's classed as boring (I don't think so) I love to see how he manipulates everyone to his way of thinking.

As for the comps... I can't wait until he "comes out of the closet"!!!! LOL

Well, Ron, even though I think Big Brother is alluding to the Big Brother (our government/technology) that is watching us, I think you are absolutely right...and I hadn't put it into those exact worlds, he has been playing the game like the big brother to all his younger siblings. He's counciled, consoled and directed them toward his ultimate goal, while keeping his emotions and temper under control. He is the BIG BROTHER OF THE HOUSE.

sflewie,

"I must have missed the conversations/comments about Frankie having a "disease". Did he say what he has & how did this come up? Can someone clue me in? Thanks."

You bring up a very nasty memory of Frankie and his antics. If I begin to sound angry when I write this...it is not directed at you....it's just this REALLY pissed me off when it happened.

When the HN were being chosen, Caleb asked if everyone had done it at least twice. (Frankie had only did it once but, didn't speak up.) So, Caleb assigned it to Nicole. Naturally, Nicole was very unhappy because she just came off of slop and now was going to do a 2nd week at a time when she is fighting to be strong to stay in the house.

Frankie said he wouldn't volunteer because the HN room is too cold and said "this isn't big best friend, it's big brother".

Christine later had brought up that Frankie only did it once. Frankie defended himself by stating something to the effect that "how could he possibly go into a cold room with all of his ailments? He sees 5 to 6 doctors for all his problems" I believe this was Frankie being a hypochondriac and trying to make an excuse. I mean how could he sleep as a HN when he believes he should only sleep in the HOH room!!???!? It was below him.

At a later time he told Victoria "I didn't realize how much medical attention I seek, I'm at the DR at least twice a month." Victoria: "Really?" Frankie: "Yes."

Knowing that Nicole was crying he told Derrick... "God, she(Nicole) better not come crying to me, I'll punch her in the face!"

Then to top it off...mushrooms were on the HN menu...and the HN's ran out of mushrooms because Frankie used them!

Above all the other players in the game, I do believe Derrick does deserve to win. I would have to see him actually go up against Dan to say he was even equal. Dan's "funeral" was an epic play. I think you have had to follow BB that year to truly appreciate what a magnificent play Dan made, when he was as sure as going home, as Nicole is this week. Derrick has played a good game...I will give him that. But, just don't know HOW good when the other HG's aren't anywhere NEAR his caliber.

I would love to see an All Stars with REAL competitors. These young, immature, bullying boys... they do not act like men.... they are ridiculous to watch. Yes, I know they "bring some drama". I would prefer to see a game where the house guests are a little older...who bring a more mature, mental competition to the game. Or, if they want to have younger people... then at least have equal representation among the age groups. Or, something like Survivor did...Brains vs. Brawn. Donny wasn't old; but, you can't expect people with 20 years age difference to not have an advantage. If Donny would have had at least 3 people in his age group, he would have had a better chance to win. At least he would have had a much fairer chance for an alliance. If CBS wants to compete next summer against Utopia, they will need to step it up. And, bring in some strong women players!

I do believe that Derrick doesn't have to worry. Anybody that he would go up against on the block...he would win over. If he was up against Caleb...Cody and Frankie would choose Derrick to stay. If he was up against Cody or Frankie, both guys would vote for Derrick. He singly has a tighter connection with each individual guy. And, none of them are smart enough to realize that Derrick could actually beat them!!!! Christine would send Derrick home... but, she still would be outnumbered. I believe, who they all are afraid of, is "charismatic Cody". Silly boys! :-))

That was horrible to watch. Total gas-ligting on his part. He basically shamed her for doubting him and tried to make her feel as small as possible. He only does this with women in the house, especially Victoria and Nicole, also Brit when she was in the house. He doesn't do that with the guys. I am pretty mad at him actually.

Ravenbelle, I could not agree with you more. I wonder if some people may need a class in gender politics to even see what we talk about? It's ingrained in our culture.

A suggestion for those who think there is no sexism: Simply reverse the genders...when Derrick is talking to Nicole or Victoria, imagine him saying those same words to Ian or to Hayden (either season)....it would sound crazy to talk so patronizing or insultingly to a guy. We accept females being spoken to like that ("I'll take care of you--don't try to work people for votes, I've got it sewn up for you. No! Don't talk to a soul. I told you, it's taken care of!) Women are handicapped by their gender, told they are "bitches" for asserting themselves or going after the same rewards.

As for Derrick supposedly being the best player, here is why I could not disagree more. Needing to control the most minute aspect of other players' games is a sign of WEAKNESS not strength.

I believe Dr. Will was the all time greatest player because he could let the entire season play out while only stepping in to assert control or manipulate nominations or votes when he or his alliance member Boogie was directly threatened. Let people form alliances...he'd just step in and make a deal with the head of the alliance or the HOH of the week and override anything another alliance might plan. Get them to vote out their own members. (Maggie pulled off this as well!)

But Derrick has to forbid all other alliances--is so threatened by the concept he and his boys club go into rants at the suggestion others may be talking to one another! Dr. Will would even let them put him on the block, knowing he was completely safe, the season sewn tight.

Could anyone imagine Derrick going up on the block? He is so shaky in his game that he must control especially the women's games--and more, forbid them from ever mentioning his game! He feels he must micromanage every detail of everyone elses game.

On the other hand, Ian hopped on a crazy roller coaster of a season and road all the twists and turns through to a win over Dan!! That takes a much smarter player.

Sorry Andy, I know you think Derrick is the greatest ever--and a floater like yourself...wrong on so many counts! That's not Derrick's game, and your misunderstanding shows just how poor a winner you were.

Derrick could not grasp Cody's point that Nicole had no alliance, no one to help her, where Frankie has Christine and Caleb, as well as potentially Victoria.... He is the micromanaging paper shuffler kind of guy, not the big concept type. He did an amazing job of running the guys' alliances, and deserves to win against anyone this season. I'd love to see him play against kick-butt women. I hope he returns for All Stars. And shows us growth. He could be deadly if he moves on and learns from early seasons, make allies with women instead of guys next time, just to throw everyone? Imagine if Derrick had had a Nakomis for an ally?
