In Memory of September 11, 2001
Someone asked in the comments last night if I'd be flying a flag on BBDish today.
Goes without saying.
Some people need a moment of silence. I've always needed a bit more than that. How do you remember and honor that many lives in a moment?
Updates will resume this late afternoon or evening. Until then, I leave you with this love poem to US from GenieSea, our neighbor to the North.
In Memory of 9/11
One day I walked upon the street
my brother yet I had to meet
And in our deafening, shattered grief
an unknown name, an unknown face
became my brother
the one I lost
in tattered ruins not far away.
Not far away, not long ago
we share the pain, through borders pass
the face of sister I‘ll never know
someone once loved her, and held her hand
she’s in my heart
the one who’s lost
in tattered ruins not far away.
And in those ruins, not far away
everyone lost something that day
and yet together we come to stand
beyond the borders of shattered land
the brother and sister
that I will meet
one day again on peaceful street.

Good Day Carolyn, Genie, Dishers
Beautiful poem Genie.
My sympathy to those who have lost and peace to us all.
Thank you . . .
I will never forget . . .
Red, White and Blue: These colors don't run . . .
I watched a documentary regarding that day and a plane full of Americans were stranded in a very small town in Canada. The Canadians feed them, clothed them, provided shelter for them as well. They all still keep in touch. Thank you Sister to our North!
Thank you, Genie ♥
Thank you, Carolyn ♥
September 11, 1995 - Rest in Peace, Jimmy, my dear sweet brother
September 11, 2001 - Rest in Peace, 9/11 Victims, America & the World will never forget
God Bless; my Family, Families & Friends affected by 9/11/01, Troops from all countries fighting for Freedom. God Bless you all.
I love you all dearly.
Although many many folks lost loved ones in New York on 9/11 there were several people whose lives were impacted here in the DC area. I would like to take this moment to bring attention to the 53 passengers and crew who lost their lives on American Airlines flight 77 which departed Washington Dulles Airport that day (I live in 5 miles from there and did on 9/11 as well) and the 125 people who lost their lives on the ground at the Pentagon. Also, to the courage of the 40 passengers and crew of United Airlines flight 93 that knowingly gave their lives to prevent greater casualties in our Nation's Capital.
Genie
You're so talented! Thanks for writing that and sharing with us!
My wish today is peace & my heart hurts for those who lost their loved ones 9 yrs ago today!

Hi Carolyn & Genie. Beautiful page and poem. I lost my brother Michael on 9/11. He was in the second tower. I miss him everyday but every year on this day it brings all the feelings from that day right back. I just came from a memorial where him and 36 people from his town were remembered. Thanks again for remembering everyone.
9 years ago....but still seems like yesterday.
Today is a day of remembrance, love, and relection. Remember and Love those lost, Remember and Love those fighting, Remember and Love those left behind. Reflect upon the past but look to the future.
God Bless America. God Bless the World.
Genie. Beautiful.
Carolyn

Thoughts and prayers to everyone today.
Beautiful poem Genie...
I'll never forget 9/11. I can still picture where I was and how I was feeling. What a terrible day.
God Bless America!
From BB2, when 9/11 happened, Alison Grodner tells the houseguests in DR:

Beautiful, just beautiful.
Thank you Genie.
These are the only words I can find as I try to type through the tears.
A big shout out to the three mistresses of BBdish-Carolyn, Genie, Lessa and to all my fellow Dishers-
Thanks Genie for the poignant and heartfelt poem. Lest we never forget
all that was lost on that day and the goodness that flowed from so many nameless brave Americans.
I am so damn proud of our country and how people came to the rescue, at their own peril, to save others.
We are a country like no other...
Beautiful poem Genie Sea!! I shared it with my friends on facebook :)
My sympathy goes out to all those who lost someone on that dreadful day and I pray for peace for everyone.

Carolyn,
You have mail.
CONGRATULATIONS ON THE 17 MILLION!!! (sorry for the all caps)
I can say obviously hearing about what was happening on the way out of work for dinner that day and not understanding fully what was going on until I got home and seen my wife's reactions and the replay on TV is one of my life's vivid memories.
Genie Sea!!!
What a beautiful poem and how appropriate that it comes from our Neighbor to the North.
So fitting because it truly was a worldwide tragedy.
My thoughts and prayers are with these families daily but even more so on this date than any other. I've been taking off this day for my own reflection of what happened and what has happened in the nine years since.
On a happier note:
Congrats Carolyn and all the crew and the Dishers on this milestone of 17 Million!!!!!
Party hats and horns for EVERYONE who make the Dish what it has become.
Genie...beautiful!
@DeeMcD1..I'm so sorry for the loss of your brother. My heart goes out to you.
Steph
That small town in Canada was mine.
Thank you so much everyone! I send you all my love. Huggies!

Great poem Genie.. Appreciate you..
Put on the feeds 6:45 and they were talking about 9/11 and it just bothers me when people put down an entire religion of people who less than .005% of their world population are actually part of Al-Qaeda.
The impulsive response is to say BOMB ALL OF THEM... however there aree waaaaaay more innocent people and Americans there than actual bad people
The bottom line is to NEVER FORGET today and make sure to tell your children and family about where you were during that time!
All of our parents (and some of us) remember where they were when JFK was assassinated..
9/11 is OUR JFK assassination! NEVER FORGET!
I haven't seen many people posting today or even if Caro or Genie are releasing comments.. I was living in NYC and married to my first wife at the time. I'll be happy to share more if there's anyone around to appreciate it..
Anyone out there?
