More sad news...
7:46 pm - Lessa here. The feeds went to Jeff's highlights for a while, and we returned to very subdued house once again. Derrik just received news that his grandfather has passed away as well. The houseguests are gathered around him, and quietly supporting him as he processes the news. BB has allowed him to record a message to send to his friends and family for the funeral, and he's grateful for that - but understandably, very upset.
Derrik: The timing just sucks... and I feel bad for my dad, man. He was really close to him.
Frankie: How old was he?
Derrik: 86.. he was a veteran.
Frankie: did he live close?
Derrik: in assisted living - we're all within 5 minutes.
Derrick: it was crazy with Sean..
Frankie; It's amazing how comforting she is, from behind the camera..
I'm going to be around for a bit - but quiet, as the houseguests mourn. Please, if you can spare a good thought or two, positive and supportive vibes, or a prayer if you are of the type, send it to the houseguests - let them know they are loved, the only way we can.

Thats pretty crazy. I have a feeling Derrick will handle this much differently than Frankie. Life is so fragile and strange
Wow! What a shock. Hopefully he'll be able to comfort his family through a video. I feel he's a very mature young man and will handle his grief admirably. I choose to believe his Grand-father has his spirit arms around Derrick and until they meet again, he'll be forever in his heart.
I am sorry, but Frankie, who I like, can be an idiot. Most veterans like Derrick's Grandfather and my father buried in Arlington - that served in WW2 were NOT drafted, they enlisted.
Huge difference!
Hi All,
Wow what a bummer, two grandfathers....how sad for these guys. Crazy season!
This could be the most somber bb yet..feel bad for them hope they comfort each other knowing both grandpa's had a full life
How sad. Sending prayers and warm thoughts for Derrick and Frankie and their families in their loss.
Prayers and thoughts are with Derrick and his family. Such a sad week :( It has to be really hard grieving without your family to support you. At least they have each other.

Derek,I'm so sorry for your loss. Its never easy, when you lose someone that was a hero to you, but also Derek you were his hero at one point.Always remember the good times, the laughs, those ANNOYING tidbits, his expressions. They may have been gone, but not forgotten.
My how ironic, I've just turned my computer back on to hear the news about Derrick's grandfather. My brother called me a while ago to tell me our 93 yo mom has been taken to the hospital. She fell again after not eating due to pills she's been on for the pain of diverticulitis. We don't think she's hurt her hip again just her tailbone. Tomorrow she's going to be CT scanned. We think mainly for the pain in her side.
Good heavens. These folks have some bad vibes going. How sad for Derrick. Sending prayers & thoughts to Derricks family & Frankies.
May God bless both Frankie and Derrick and the family. I hope they both make decisions they will not regret later. NOTHING can keep me away from mourning the death of adv very close family member. But that's just me.
WOW, can't believe this happened again. What are the odds? Poor guys. It's tough enough to lose someone but then to not be with family and friends and to keep playing the game. I wish Frankie and Derrick all the best wishes despite all that has happened.
So sad ... but so glad the HG's are pretty much supportive of each other even though they are still plotting to stay until the end ...
What are the odds that two HG's this season would each lose their grandfather within a few days of each other ...
Thank you Leesa for your update ...
I am just so sad for these guys. It just has to be rough being away from family at a time like this! God bless them all!
