We believe the HGs are currently being filmed for their weekly segment on tonight's Craig Ferguson show, which airs on CBS immediately following Letterman every night.
I can't wait 'til the feeds come back on so we can learn who got busted this week! Ollie and April, perhaps???

My take on April's comment about "that is rude" is the fact that the Sex was being shown on live feed cuz I'm sure CF busted them. That is my take.

I think you're right, for what that's worth. That's why I didn't essentially call for his head the same way I did for Steven when he used the (arguably much milder) descriptor "colored" when referring to Libra.
When I said that he should know better, I suppose I should have provided more explanation, because my objection is really based on his father and his background. Not to cause a stir, but here is my full line of reasoning:
Ollie's dad is a preacher. And while I've never been to Ollie's dad's church, the level of anti-gay bigotry flowing from the pulpits of many churches, and African American churches in particular, is intolerably high. Ollie says that he doesn't curse because to do so would violate his religious values; I can only surmise that at Ollie's house "faggot" isn't really thought of as a bad word. Your reasoning for why this might be makes sense, of course.
As a African-American Pentecostal preacher, Ollie's father may or may not self-identify as a member of a minority that has achieved some measure of social equality only by fighting against the bigotry that is unfortunately endemic to U.S. American culture. Whether he self-identifies this way or not however, he's certainly benefitted from the fight for civil rights, and as a preacher it seems to me that he has a particular responsibility to advocate justice for all minorities. The fact that Ollie feels comfortable tossing the word "faggot" around as an epithet that does not violate his values tells me some unfortunate things about how he was raised, and about associations that he has not bothered to make in his own mind. I won't condemn him for it because I understand the points you made concerning his (probably) sheltered existence, but I am very disappointed.
One last thing: I'm sure that I sometimes come across as a shrill, unforgiving advocate for what some call "PC language". I'm just as sure that many here understand the truth that words have real power and can inflict real wounds. More than anything, I am just impatient that many folks still don't really connect with the idea that injustice and bigotry truly affects everyone, and not just the person it's being aimed at. But I learn as I go, just like anyone else--and refining that message is definitely a work in progress for me.

beorn - agreed. I suspect we would agree on most things, we have in the past. My push back comes very much from the same place. Though many understand that words have tremendous power, many don't. And there is just the reality that if you aren't entrenced in a culture you really may not know.
Example - I worked in the disability field for quite some time as a legal advocate. When I got the position, highly educated and sophisticated as I may envision myself, I really had no clue that "people with disabilities" don't like to be labeled "disabled." And certainly never "handicapped." In fact right before my interview for the job I was lucky enough that someone clued me in. I probably wouldn't have gotten the job otherwise, though I certainly meant no offense.
Granted, the "f" word is a tad less obscure in everyday life for most of us. But, there is a big difference between uneducated and intolerant. Seeing as how we have an audience here that is very diverse, I try to come at it with a little more honey than vinegar - at least most of the time. You never know when there will be a teachable moment.
But hey, on the other hand, some people are just f**king a**ho*es.
I doubt Ollie will have much of a reaction when Jessie is voted out. He'll probably do what he usually does.Stand back and let April do it.I bet the first person he looks at is her.

Boy, is greatest American Dog different from BB! The girl with the border collie who won the comp gave up the dog bone suite(likeHOH) to the older guy and his dog so he could have a letter and pictures of homme. It also included an advantage in the elimination comp. It was really kind and generous, not something our hgs would do.

I have to be serious for a moment and put in my $3.96 (damn inflation) on the ugly *F* word. I don't tolerate it and really get on a soapbox no matter in what context it is used.
I've had multiple discussion with LOGO (owned by CBS) for allowing that word to go uncensored when absolutely everything else is fair game on that channel.
LOGO tells me it's allowed because it is the way the gay community can take the word back as an empowerment word. I say BS. I basically no longer watch LOGO, we had so many discussions via email and I felt I was never heard.
Using that word as empowerment is the same excuse blacks use for being able to call their own the *N* word.
My argument is, no matter who uses it, it is a word of hate and intolerance and disrespect. The only way to stop it is to explain that in no context should it be used.
The reason I despise it so much is because over the years I have had several friends that, as they were being beaten and kicked to their death, that word was being screamed at them. It was the last word they heard before they died.
Off my soapbox now, but I couldn't go on without speaking my mind.
Now back to the show. I am REALLY looking forward to Craig Ferguson tonight. I can't wait to see what April is so miffed (pi**ed) about. I hope it's as good as it sounds.

Re: Dan's "20" shirt. I heard him say a week or more ago, before AP was in play that this is his and Monica's 20 month anniversary.
I don't believe it has anything to do with his AP task. Actually, while I think he has a good idea about what his vote is going to be tomorrow night, simply because it makes sense to want to evict the same person America wanted to get nominated, Dan won't know until he opens the envelope as he votes tomorrow night. Julie, I do seem to have been away a lot the last few days. I read it all, but like ReporterX, I have terrible insomnia and I never know when or if I am going to sleep, or for how long. Eventually I take a couple of days and get all caught up.
Things seem calm in the house for now. Damn it. They rarely, more like NEVER get booze on the night before the live show. I hope tonight is an exception. Otherwise I don't think much will be happening, but that doesn't mean I won't be glued to the feeds just in case.

Frankly the language is changing fast. When I started I never heard the phrase differently-abled, now it's common. I made up a phrase my self to talk about people with mental retardation. I would say cognitive or intellectual functioning limitations (or something like that). Now I hear those words all the time (I guess I'm a maverick).
The truth is the PC thing is a double edged sword. On one hand it's really important to find the properly defining words that don't come with baggage. On the other hand, you change the terms every three days and it sort looses its credibility and people start yammering about PC-ness. Plus, of course, not everyone agrees on anything. Just look at the "N" word and the rap community (for instance), it's the quintessential conflict of offense versus ownership.
What's right? Beats the hell out of me.

I think this has less to do with government and more to do with heart and our higher selves.Trying to recognize why someone has the attitudes they do,where they come from.

JulieB -- I understand different strokes for different folks, but celebrating 'young love' on a monthly basis seems more like a teen thing than an adult thing.
Dan is one of my faves, and I'm not finding fault, I just think it is an odd, albeit kind of sweet, thing for a grown man to do.
However, if he wants to celebrate their anniversary every month, so be it...but I will continue to think it s little odd. Not wrong, just odd. :)
p.s. obviously, I'm married to a man without a romantic bone in his body so any kind of public acknowledgment of a man's feelings for his woman is a totally foreign concept to me. ;p

Crisi--Thank you for that wonderful complement! I'm technically a graduate assistant working on a Ph.D. in Performance Studies (which is kind of like a mixture of cultural theory and critique, performance art, history, and English). I know--weird. LOL
In practical terms, I research and write (currently on how the memory and experience of D-Day is captured, remembered, rehearsed, and changed by various media) and I teach whatever I'm told to teach--usually some combination of Performance of Literature, Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, and Basic Communication Theory. I really, really like teaching, and it's what I hope to do once I've earned my Ph.D. I work hard to be the best teacher that I can be, so your compliment was especially appreciated!

Jane, IANAL but the 1st amendment most definitely protects hate speech (see stormfront, the kkk, or Fred Phelps for examples.) What isn't protected are threats of physical violence and libel/slander.
There is a reason it's the first amendment, and I'm not defending hateful speech. But if we were to let the government define what hateful speech is we would no longer be a free people.

mmmm Carolyn love Volcano rolls! rainbow rolls too. We used to go eat sushi in Japantown in san Francisco when we went there, used to stay at a beautiful Japanese hotel there when my ex was on business trips. The sushi was the freshest there in the little places the local residents ate, not where the tourist went. Good thing there is not a 24hr sushi bar here, my mouth is watering.

In a rather perverted, parallel universe way, it would be funny to see him stay in the house because I think there would be a major blow-up between him and Michelle in a few days. He kind of treats her like an adoring puppy. Gives her just enough encouragement to keep her around, but ultimately reasserts his position as Big Dog in the relationship. I hate guys like that.
How crazy would it be if it's revealed tomorrow night that America voted Memphis out? We would freak. I noticed on Reality BBQ that the author is already soliciting questions to ask Jessie on Friday. Is there something we don't know? Have the results been released?

OMG,ROFLMAO!!! hgs had all gone to bed and all of a sudden BB started playing all kind of bizarre things over the speakers. Screams! and all sorts of stuff. 1:09 am BB time. Freaked everyone out! Keesha was really scared. Jerry, lol said they shouldn't go around scaring an old man. I don't know if it was planned or if the hgs running around scaring each other started it. Libra called it, she said America had called in. They are anticipating that this will go on all night so they can't sleep. Everyone is up now except Renny.
they're all trying to figure out whats going on and how america is involved.
Here it goes again 5 min later. They are playing the wake up messages. some are really Insane!!!

Another 5 minutes, another set of messages, A slop song, Someone pretending to leave a phone message for a patient saying they were missing a bunch of surgical instruments in case they were having trouble going through metal detectors at airport. It's going to be a long night! lol. Everyone is up in the living room, complaining.
