The Overnight Report
Good Morning, BB Lovers! Happy Friday! :)
Last night when I went to sleep, a little after 3am eastern, Jessie and Lydia were up in HoH, lying in bed, chatting... When I woke up a few minutes before 8am eastern, guess whose voices I woke up to? They're up, on feeds 1 & 2, under the covers and still talking.
Topics? Primarily - who goes up... Lydia's pushing hard for a Ronnie nomination, because if Jessie doesn't, he'll ostracize himself from the group at large. Jessie's arguing against it, because he feels that if he does put Ronnie up, there was no point of him even winning HoH. Jessie's leaning strongly towards Michele & Jordan as initial nominees, with Casey as the intended backdoor man, Secondarily, the mysterious interpersonal world of Jessie and Lydia.
In my never ending quest to find fun gifties for my little nephews and nieces, I stumbled across this mega deal yesterday on ebay daily deals, and when I checked this morning, the auction's still active - although not officially a daily deal anymore... there are new ones.. :) Anyhow, it's SpongeBoB for GameBoy, and at 6.99 with free shipping, it's 75% off the list price. :) Sweet!

Ms. Carolyn your blog is by far superior to the rest. Thank you Thank you Thank you for bringing up and comparing the double standards surrounding the HG's who are parents of young kids. It's unfair that men aren't expected to put their lives on hold for their children, but women are judged so harshly and so easily labeled bad mothers for pursuing their own personal goals or leaving the home to provide for the family.
Also, what does this say about what we think of men as fathers? They can't take care of their own kids alone but a woman can? I know we make it look easy, but come on!
This is big brother not leave it to beaver, so let's give the players equal footing by leaving their family lives out of it & focus on the game!

I didn't get around to looking at Chrome last night. Since I wouldn't let go last night and DQTD was whining, even after I pointed out Rule #6, about me being in the chair all evening. I let him have it.
Gonna do that now and hopefully be back to normal before it gets juicy for the day.
I feel some storms brewing big time no matter who does what to whom. This week is going to be like Week 1 all over again.

Hey, I don't think Braden is a racist, I think he is too dumb, or high, or both to be one. And that is some feat!
I do think he has serious issues with women, but again, he's so dumb, or high, or both that it's about as meaningful politically as the issues my dog has with men (and she has some serious issues with men).
The dude is like, totally, right out of that movie, where in the future people have all become so dumb that these two morons from the past are the smartest people on earth. What the hell is it called? I'll get back to you.

Good Morning Everyone!!
I think I'm still in mourning after Jessie's HOH win last night. The only good thing about it is that Jeff is safe for the week.
I hope the Have/have not comp will be fair to Jordan...or if she ends up on slop then at least she gets the cocktail weenies and not the other gross stuff.
I also hope Jessie playing Nat and Lydia off each other blows up in his face.
*giggle* ... That's all I can do when I think of Carolyn in fishnets and stilettos, with a cat 'o nine tails in her hand.
Guess what. I already had Chrome installed. Not sure when I did it. Probably one of those sneak attack things.
Anyway, still soundless but I'm going to work on all that AGAIN. And when I get it right I'll stick to Chrome until it blows again.

Sorry in advance Carolyn. And not to re-hash an old argument, but I kept quiet about it last season, and I can't keep my opinion to myself any longer:
No disrespect to anyone intended but I do feel that there is (and should be) a double standard when it comes to mommies and their babies.
First of all there is no way for someone who is not a parent to possibly understand how much love a parent has for his/her child. Trust me, I found this out on my own. This is coming from the woman who was "NEVER" going to have kids because I didn't like children, but I LOVED my dogs. Now no matter what kind of day I'm having, all I need to do is look at my son's little chubby cheeks and I'm back on cloud nine:)
Not to be sexist, but I feel as though a mother feels the feelings of love first and deepest because she carries the child inside her body and connects sooner then a dad might. She is also responsible earlier on for caring for the child (lifestyle changes, like cutting back on caffeine, etc.) She is the first to feel the baby move. Those little flutters in her belly a constant reminder to her that a little person is growing in there all the time, even while she is sleeping. All this leads to 9 months extra practice, bonding and preparation for the actual event of childbirth. So, for me, these reasons are enough for me to frown upon a mother leaving her child voluntarily.
All that being said, I would absolutely KICK my husband's a$$ if he was away playing a game and missing his son's first birthday. Money can't buy you happiness, and it ABSOLUTLY can not buy you any extra time. There are some things in life more important than the almighty dollar. I understand that $500,000 is a life changing amount of money, I really do, but I truly hope that if I'm ever called upon to make a decision like that, that I (and my husband) will always choose our son first. Always, no discussion necessary.

Jane - i agree with you on the Braden being too high and dumb to be a racist. That interview with Ross was really had to follow. Maybe on top of it all he has some serious ADHD as well cause he was all over the place.
How sad is it that I am sitting here watching people sleep? (Although I know I am not alone. Come on, confession time).
It's bad enough that I check my microwave EVERY time the BB houses beeps. And worse yet, there is NEVER food in it!

With all due respect, I could not disagree with you more. Within a millisecond of seeing my son, I knew I would die for him if necessary. When I held him for the first time, moments after he was born, I felt a bond that started in my heart and spread throughout my body. I refuse to take a back seat because I do not have female reproductive organs.
Libra got a lot of bad mouthing last season, and I don't think she deserved any of it.
Unfortunately, there are many double standards in regards to children. I'm not sure about other states, but here in Ohio, a father has little hope of ever winning primary custody of his children in the unfortunate event of a divorce. Unfortunately, as a people, we still need to work through double standards, and they do go both ways.
I love this community. One can voice a thought without the fear of being called every name in the book.

I read your comment on Casey leaving his one year old, and of course I have 2 cents on the subject.
Before I say anything a little disclaimer: I believe that every individual needs to make the decision that is right for him or her. I do not want someone to make my decisions in my life so I will not presume to know what it is like to walk in someone's shoes.
There is a bit of a double standard, I agree! Here is why I think that dbl standard exist. A mother is the Primart Nurturer and usually the primary care giver. It so hard to replace what a mother gives to a child during infancy. Libra's baby's were so small and it was such a crucial time in their development.
As a mother myself, I do not believe I would not be able to leave my child for 3 months. I know how vital I am in his life.
However, I am a single mother, if he had a loving and attentive father in the home, I might feel differently. Maybe that was the case for Libra, she knew her children would definately be loved and nurtured during her absence, so she was able to take the opportunity to be in the BB house.
I think the 'frowning upon' was probably primarily given by women who believed they could never leave their child(ren).
All I know is my heart sank when Casey said he was going to miss his child's one year b-day. There is so much that happens in the next 3 months, and you can't rewind time. Once those moments are gone...POOF GONE 4-Ever!
