BB12: Tuesday Night Smack Down
Good Evening BB Dishers!
What a day of speculation on the live feeds today!
The paranoia about the potential information Rachel got from the DR raged through the house all day. Matt explained away the dollar; and though his story has holes, no one noticed and the Brigade doesn't care. Brendon and Rachel have been spending the day together, riding a roller coaster of emotions and being there for each other. Ragan has been going through a roller coaster of emotions himself, alternating from feeling the repercussions of his past bullying which Brendon triggers in him, and remorse for the way he has been talking about Brendon and Rachel.
The line is deep in the sand and both sides are very emotional, not resulting in their finest human moments. While Britney/Ragan and Brendon/Rachel focus on each other, the Brigade and Kathy sit back, watch the fall out, and stir the pot occasionally.

Brendon and Rachel are cuddled in bed. Brendon is sleeping but Rachel's wheels are turning, turning...

Ragan and Kathy
Ragan is telling Kathy how hard it is for him to deal with Brendon because it's bringing back his history of being bullied. Kathy says she can relate, experiencing similar treatment when she was pregnant in high school. He is feeling torn because he knows he has been very nasty over the past few days and he knows he needs to clear the tension. He seems to be having a break through, unfortunately, he joins Britney on the hammock and he deteriorates. "When he watches the season and sees the things we said about him, we will have the last laugh." (*le sigh)
It quickly deteriorates to a rerun of their daily bash session.
Hayden and Lane work out. Lane and Enzo just finished and pool game, being replaced by Ragan and Britney. The negativity continues. Kathy comes out and laughs at their "humor" and participates.

Hayden and Matt go into Taj to ask Brendon and Rachel if they want to play. Oddly, the lights are off and they are in bed. They decline politely, Hayden and Matt make a hasty retreat.
Hayden joins Kathy on the sofas and she tells him she is nervous about next week. She thinks she will be going up as a pawn. "My chances of winning are slim." Hayden is called to DR.
It's Matt and Enzo's turn in the pool tournament. Lane sits on the dryer chatting with them.

Brendon asks Rachel if she wants to go outside and play pool. She doesn't want to, suggesting chess instead. Brendon seems very down. Rachel asks him if he is okay. He says he is tired of all the "douche bags". Talk turns to having so little to do in the house. Rachel wants to work out. Brendon doesn't want to leave Taj. Rachel convinces him to leave their haven, so he can go grab a shower while she works out.
They go out to the kitchen where they chit chat with Lane. Lane asks Rachel if she wants a Popsicle.
Kathy is in the shower. Brendon sits on the bathroom sofa and waits because he wants a cold shower.
CUT TO:

Taj
Brendon is making his futile pitch to Enzo yet again about keeping Rachel in the house.
Enzo: I don't trust none of these people.
Brendon: They are so f'in fake.
Enzo: You have been going through week 1, yo! I feel bad because I'm going with the crowd...
Brendon: It doesn't matter. Whoever stays, they won't be coming after you.
Enzo: If you can get me and Hayden, who else would you have?
Brendon wonders maybe Lane. Enzo doesn't think this will happen... Hayden comes in. Brendon renews his pitch. They say they need to find out who Kathy will vote for. Enzo says he and Hayden need to find out who is voting for whom. (**I've lost the plot...)

They break it up, and Enzo goes to the kitchen, whispering to Ragan and Matt that Brendon was working them to get Rachel to stay.

Ragan: I want to have a conversation with you about the future, but not too specifically. This is a turning point in the game.
Matt: I would say so.
Ragan: That said, I love everyone in the 6. There are people I trust more than others. Do you feel the same way without being specific.
Matt: Yeah. I would say so.
Ragan: In every challenge there are people you don't want to see win. Who would I be most concerned about in competitions.
Matt: Anyone I pick, will be strategy not personal.
(**This seems a pointless conversation without specifics.)
Matt: Cause if he does win HoH, next week.
Ragan: It will be me and you.
Matt: Yeah with Britney as a renom which throws out the Final 3. (**When did they make a final 3 deal?)
They speculate that a lot of people will be complacent about winning HoH next week because they know they won't be on the block. Matt says that Ragan and Britney will need to win HoH. Matt tells him not to be nervous. Ragan wants to bring Britney upstairs so they can talk. (**oh lovely!)Matt reiterates that Ragan shouldn't be nervous.
Matt: I'm not nervous, and I will be the renom if I'm not put up straight up. (**That's cause you have the Diamond Power of Veto.)
Britney comes in...

Cuts to Hayden and Enzo in Taj.
Enzo: I don't care who goes home. If Brendon wants to go home, let him go home. I don't care.
Hayden: I don't care either.
Enzo: Maybe we should keep Brendon. He won't win the HoH. Either way we're safe.
(**My head is spinning...)
Enzo is telling Hayden that they need to be gentle with Brendon because that's two votes in the Jury house. He would prefer to keep Rachel because she can be manipulated easier. They move to Cabana. Enzo says he is tired of the friction in the house caused by Britney and Ragan. They both think that Brendon is an idiot to not want to stay in the house.

Kathy and Rachel
Rachel is telling Kathy that she can do very well if she wanted to. She is giving Kathy a pep talk. She did well in the quiz and she could have done well in Endurance.
Rachel; I have total faith in you. If you can take me out, you can take out any one of these people.
Kathy: I won't go down without a fight. Starving or not starving.
Rachel: Good to hear. You won't be starving next week. And you won't be sleeping in that bed.
Kathy: The bed I don't mind. It's the lack of food.
(**She is no doubt trying for Kathy's vote. Doubtful Kathy is buying it...)
They go inside.
Rachel goes into Cabana where Enzo, Hayden and Britney are. Rachel asks Britney if she wants to do a facial with her (*Thanks Barbara!) and Britney declines saying she is tired from pool, and they have their talk show to do later. Rachel asks "What talk show?" They tell her it's interviewing the winners of the tournament.
Britney: We just sit around and talk... (**smack about you.)
Talk turns to Enzo's accent. Hayden, Lane and Britney tease him. (It's funny without being mean)

Rachel, Brendon, Enzo and Kathy
Rachel is upset because Ragan left the Cabana as soon as she came in. Kathy and Enzo say that she should go anywhere she wants. Brendon is going off on Ragan, and Rachel tells him to stop. Brendon says that Ragan getting upset because Rachel said he was together with Matt (**implying an alliance) is ridiculous.
Brendon: That's why we asked Jeff and Jordan if they keep in touch with people from their season and they said Casey and Laura. You think people will want to keep in touch with you if you're d*cks in the house?
Brendon and Rachel leave; Enzo asks Kathy if she will be voting Rachel out. She says definitely. Enzo says that Brendon keeps cornering him to ask him. Kathy says that no one has asked her anything. Cue Brendon who comes in.
Brendon: I know this is unprecedented in BB history, but I want you to vote me out. (He smiles at Kathy.)
Enzo and Kathy crack up.
Brendon: I know it's stupid but I love her and I want her to stay.
Enzo: Press the exit button.
They all laugh again. Enzo says it makes no difference to him, but to make sure the whole house is on board. Kathy says that Rachel told her that she wants him to stay, and that she is "torn".
Hayden comes to get Brendon and Enzo to play pool and they leave Kathy alone in the Cabana. She rolls her eyes. (**Gaytor can supply you with some more!)

Ragan, Britney & Rachel
Rachel asked them how their day was. It's a very awkward conversation with Britney doing most of the talking. Britney and Rachel go on to say how lame the Saboteur is. Neither Ragan nor Britney are looking at Rachel.
Rachel: You look tired (to Ragan)
Ragan: It's been an emotionally exhausting week.
Rachel: From what?
She asks Ragan to talk...
Rachel: I don't know what happened, but...
Ragan: You don't know what happened? (His voice rising a bit)
Rachel: Please don't jump at me... (Her voice chokes a bit)
Ragan: Let me just say this, give me your hand. My intent saying that I don't what to talk to you because I know myself and I need a few days to be calm, cool and collected. And I don't want you to think anything else. The other thing about me... I don't respond... I kind of shut down (when someone gets emotional). You are an emotional person as well. So when you get emotional, my inclination is to shut down. It's like I want people to collect themselves (paraphrasing).... Like the night you were drunk when you laughed a maniacal laugh.
Rachel: What are you talking about? I didn't laugh a maniacal laugh, I wasn't laughing at you. It wasn't directed at you. I was laughing at something that happened in DR.
Ragan: Lane said he watched you looking at me as you walked up and laughing. You went outside and you said "I didn't have to say anything to him."
Rachel: I don't remember saying that. It wasn't directed at you. It was something I said in DR that was funny. I'm sorry if you thought it was directed at you.
Ragan: I'm done. I can only operate on a level of reality. I'm done.
Britney: I'm not trying to get involved, and I can leave if you want, but I did hear you (Rachel) say that.
Rachel: It had nothing to do with Ragan.
This is ongoing.
Ragan: Rachel. We operate on different levels. I don't get the things you do.
Rachel: What things?
Ragan: All of the theatrics.... There is one common denominator in all of the arguments.
Rachel: What?
Ragan: You. You were involved in all the arguments. (He lists them)
Rachel: The thing with Monet wasn't even an argument. The Matt this was your idea. I asked for your advice and you told me to have a house meeting.
Ragan: I did tell you that, but you didn't sit and ask questions. He went on attack mode.
Britney: I don't think it's any relevance to talk about past arguments.
Ragan: I don't get the behavior. I don't get it. And I've seen a lot in my years. I don't know how to respond. When I see the behavior I have been seeing. I don't engage in it. I don't. The intent is not to be mean to you... When people aren't aware of their actions or how they might be interpreted by other people, it's not my job to make you see what's going on...
It goes into cycle mode and ends with Rachel breaking down and leaving. Britney says that Rachel doesn't live in reality. Rachel goes to DR. Brendon can't find her, and he goes over to the hammock.

Brendon: What's going on Ragan? Trying to F her up more? Last week, she was your best friend. This week, you're being an a- hole to her.
Ragan: I'm not trying to f her up.
Brendon: You go from being her best friend, to stabbing her in the back. You had a hand in Rachel going up.
Ragan: I did no such thing.
Brendon: You're a pair!
Ragan: Right. We're the gruesome twosome.
Britney starts to laugh.
Brendon: You're a douche bag.
Ragan: You're a Neanderthal.
Brendon corrects his pronunciation.
Britney laughs louder. Britney gets up and imitates Brendon's walk. Brendon and Britney get into an argument. He asks her how does she like Nick banging all the chicks while she's in the house. She breaks down.
- Brendon goes inside. trying to go to the DR, but is told it's unavailable.
- Lane takes Britney to the hammock. She says she doesn't understand why Brendon would make it so personal.
- Brendon is talking to himself in the living room outside the DR. "I can't stand by and pretend that everything is okay."
- Britney goes inside to get some coffee, staring at Brendon. She says, "No wonder your family doesn't support you, you humiliate them."
- She goes outside, and tells the mob. Kathy congratulates her and says she is proud of her.
- They speculate whether Brendon will voluntarily exit the game.
- They get libations. Brendon comes out and takes the white wine.
- Kathy and Enzo come inside. Kathy asks for the wine opener which Brendon put in his pocket. She tells him not to stoop to their level. Brendon tells them that Rachel tried repeatedly to apologize only to be slammed.
(MY shift is almost up. YAY!)
- Rachel comes out of DR smiling. Brendon runs after her like a stray puppy to tell her about his argument with Ragan including the "NeanderTal" comment...

Hi Genie, I just skated in under the wire so didn't get got with the new top post, lol.
I love your opening comments, so level and accurate in describing the standoff of the house. It is sort of interesting that there are three factions: Rachel/Brendon vs Ragan/Britney and the rest of the house. I remember when Rachel won her first HOH her goal was to make the house split into two and it seemed at first that that happened but I think not.
I feel for the middle crew as I think they see both sides and get drawn into some of the drama but I suspect deep down they look at the drama as more game play and outside of the house the issues would dissolve.
I suspect for Rachel/Brendon vs Ragan/Britney, the tensions and feelings they have for each other would carry over into Jury House and beyond. Maybe Rachel might be the exception as she tends to forgive more easily as long as she doesn't perceive someone coming between her and her man.
Just when Ragan seems to be making progress... oh man. I'm having transcriber's remorse... I'm sorry I'm transcribing right now...
Hiya Barbara! :) One quality Rachel has is the ability to laugh at herself. This will get her through. My hope for Ragan is, after this game is over, he will work things out.
I think Ragan is very emotional right now with having the Saboteur. Can only imagine some of the suggestions hes getting from DR and saying No please dont make me do that!
And then at one point I think he truly liked Rachel alot, and has regrets that it cant be peaceful between them.
And just when we think its going to be a lil better, with him saying he has regrets of how hes acting, he back to doing the same thing.
I just hope he gets out of this house remembering who he is because I dont think hes This kind of person!

Genie, I sure hope so!!! This social experiment of reality tv although entertaining for viewers puts a terrible strain on the players as adversity will bring out the best and worst in players. At the end of the season to look back and see yourself at your worst is a scary thought and the venom of others that might be associated with it would make me cringe.
I know technically they accept this when they sign up but I don't think they really understand what they are getting into until they get there. As much as BB HGs claim to follow the feeds and blogs of prior seasons, I often wonder if they really did participate in past seasons as an observer and see the horrid things people do to each other in the house and the way the public reacts with their own horrid comments.
That is one of the many reasons why I like this site so much, the rules of posting comments sort of help police us in not going too far with the comments as I know many of us are tempted to do as a trigger response without thought to the potential for damage inflicted.

1. I feel for Ragan, only because he is THAT emotionally incompetent. There are people, like Amber way back when, who should never have been cast. He is simply too broken. This is not a criticism of him. He apparently went through so much trauma as a kid, that mirrors this environment, that he is in danger here. I resent casting for allowing this to happen. It is not reasonable to expect a person with this kind of issue to recognize it.
Truthfully, Brendon and Rachel have really done nothing to him. They are annoying and self involved, but not vicious. This is all projection. He can't see that. His behavior has been horrid, but it's coming from a place of incompetence. Though, that doesn't justify it. So he should never have been permitted to be locked inside this house of mirrors. So irresponsible of casting, who has a battery of tests and knew exactly what they were doing.
BTW, I am shocked he has never been to therapy. He has a lot of crap to work through. He will be devastated by a lot of things when he leaves. He will end up in therapy then, for sure.
2. I soooo want to join this conversation with Ragan!!! Yes, he has a valid point, Brendon and Rachel are terrible sports. But frankly that is none of his business, in the sense that it in no way justifies his grotesque meanness - with is very much their business.
I will add the caveat that people like Britney and Kathy manipulate Ragan endlessly. They are mean women, fundamentally. None of the three, Rachel, Brendon, or Ragan are fundamentally mean people. They are all three very emotionally unstable and insecure, and projecting their crap all over the place.
I appreciate that Ragan is showing some insight about how he is acting, but I wish he could see the genesis and have some perspective.
I cared about that guy, so I am upset. I should give it a rest.
3. Barbara, well, I have not been able to stand Brendon since day one. I was first on the Brendon is a tool bandwagon. There are so many things about him I dislike I couldn't even list them all.
Rachel is a clusterf*ck. She's all kinds of nuts.
That said, they are more annoying than cruel. They have had their moments. I give everyone on BB some leeway to be vile. Though, they are mostly playing defensive against people who either can't stand them or are targeted them, or both. Neither of them has ever condemned anyone as a human being, it has all been in the context of the game.
That is not true for Ragan, under the gentle guiding hand of Britney. They are viciously mean on a very personal level.
The big difference for me, is that I hold these people to different standards. And I fully admit it. Brendon, Rachel, Britney and Kathy are screwed up as*holes. Ragan is not. Or wasn't. He has degenerated and it is painful for me to watch. So if this makes any sense, it is why I am so much more upset with Ragan.

Oh, I guess I will add that I agree with a lot of what Ragan said about Brendon (the stuff about his distorted ego in particular). But that justifies walking away and maybe calling him a tool :-) not what Ragan and Britney have been doing, especially projecting their dislike for Brendon onto Rachel.

I'm sure this doesn't reflect well on me but I am loving the nonstop bashfest.
Rachel and Brendon have annoyed me since day one. They're the biggest hypocrites in the house. But on top of all that the thing that I can't stand is their poor strategy. They never tried to make a serious alliance outside of their duo. Part of me believes that Rachel's psyche enjoys her "I've been fighting since day one" mentality? Maybe that has something to do with her preseason desire to be just like Janelle...
Matt was willing to go in with a one week deal and instead of trying to extend that Brendon and Rachel decided he was a target. Kristen was potentially a solid alliance member but Rachel projected her own "last girl standing" mentality onto Kristen and got her out.
How did she ever think that after forcing Monet and Britney apart that Britney would in turn want to align with her in any real way?
Rachel sits in HOH when she has the power and lords it over people. She makes speeches and calls meeting. That's great in the here and now but - shock of all shocks - the one week she isn't HOH and Brendon doesn't win veto is the one week they're broken up.
They project a very negative attitude because since day one they've tried to make it the Brendon and Rachel show. They looked for pity and tried to make themselves America's favorite. You can just see Rachel's face light up whenever they talk about America's opinion.
So yeah, what everyone is saying now is quite mean. But I've always been a big believer in an eye for an eye. Two wrongs don't make a right but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy the revenge while it lasts. I'm sure if the house is beyond horrible to Brendon after Rachel is gone I'll start to feel a bit uneasy but at this point I'm okay with it.
For Rachel and Brendon this week is what's known as a receipt.

@ Jane, thanks, that really does clarify it for me. I actually agree with everything you said. At first I thought you were more positive with Rachel and Brendon, I too put Brendon high on my list as a man I wouldn't want my daughters around for a whole host of reasons.
I guess I got hung up on the word "cruel" as a lot of the Britney/Ragan I saw as mean girls and although cruel in the personal attacks they were behind the back versus full on frontal attacks (which I would equate to vicious) so I wasn't looking at them from a cruel perspective, if that makes any sense.
Ragan was originally so kind and a really gentle soul in the beginning and that Ragan is long gone most of the time so I do see what you mean. And despite Ragan's past he is older and should be more mature. Huge difference in maturity level ofearly 20's versus early 30's so I also agree about different standards.
I too wonder about the psychological component that CBS uses in their selection process especially in the way they put the HGs together in a manner that is sure perpetuate the tension and hostilities. I wonder how many people suffer severe psychological damage from the experience.

Fair point, Genie. But while you know that and I know that, Rachel and Brendon didn't know that. If they acted that way towards people who actually wanted to align with them it probably wouldn't have worked out due to their attitudes.
What I'm getting at is that if any of those deals had been real Rachel and Brendon would have been biting the hand that feeds.
Barbara, yes, vicious is a little over the top. It's just mean, and also stupid, words. There are no babies being murdered or anything. I'll go with cruel. It's all in the context of this game. Very little of this crap would be tolerated in the real world (the real world is much worse).
I have given some info I learned from a friend who was a shrink for reality TV every season. The long and short of it is they are given a battery of tests and examined numerous times by shrinks. The shrinks and production often disagree, with production wanting more volatile people than the shrinks. Productions wins.
Howdy genie and fellow dishers....I have been a lurker lately because I am so angry at these houseguests. I can barely turn on the feeds for a few minutes before the bashing begins. I, like many others have no love for brendon and think that rachel just got herself involved with the wrong guy. But here is what bothers me the most with the rest of them in that house. It was ok for them to all kiss butt with rachel and brendon when they were in positions of power while all the while bad mouthing them mercilessly behind their backs. And in my opinion rachel actually showed what she was really made of by winning both hoh comps that she could win and by sticking to her guns and not letting anyone else bully her into doing anything but that.
Britney is that two-faced girl that would never even speak to Ragan in the outside world. And how she tries to use him irritates me to no end. But ragan has really been the biggest disappointment because he professed to be a friend of rachel's until it was no longer convenient to be her friend. She never did anything to him directly and his blind affection for matt has made him lose the advantage he had in this game. And if you all remember it was matt from the beginning that was causing all the rift between rachel and everyone else because he is so focused on winning this game.
While I can't fault him for wanting to win, some of his meddling, much like with father dan, has crossed the line in my opinion.
Now the house is just a hateful, spiteful place and no one is paying attention to those dangerous floaters that are going to make it to the end by doing nothing but playing everyone...specifically lane and enzo.
What is going to happen in the house once rachel and/or brendon are gone? From past seasons I can tell you it is going to get very ugly for those that remain and whomever thinks they will all remain lifelong friends are surely mistaken.
The ugliness we see now is only going to get worse and worse and I honestly would not be surprised to see at least one penalty nomination happen for violence.
The only person that I can see at this point forward rising above it all might be hayden. I think there really is a genuinely good person there.
Some might call it insecurities...or childhood issues but I call that hogwash. In the big brother house true colors shine through when the going gets the toughest and I'm sorry but britney and ragan are not the kind of people that we thought they were. Britney already showed it with monet but when monet left we all wanted to think there was hope for her...obviously there isn't.
I truly believe enzo is homophobic and is very uncomfortable being in the same environment as ragan...that situation makes me the most nervous.
I used to be a huge ragan fan, but I'm sorry he has shown that he is truly a very insecure person who revels in all the ugliness. At first I thought it was a "sabateur" move to be pointing fingers at rachel and brendon as the possible sabateurs...but he has gone too far. I go back to when he said a while back that he cared deeply about rachel...you don't turn on someone the way he did unless you really have huge issues yourself...BUT...whatever those issues may be gives him no excuse for his recent behaviour.

Instead of watching and listening to the feeds this week I have gone back to watch the other seasons of Big Brother. Season 8 was great, and last season was one of my favorites. This season has really been a dud, and the so called twists are lame and not at all game changing. This cast, for the most part, are very boring and at this point I really do not care who wins. What are the chances of a game changing twist this late in the season? One can only hope.

And ragan's reality needs a reality check.He seems to only live in his own world.And every arguement or debate he gets in to, he seems to need t rehash it with every other HG to get their approval.
Kevin - I'm not defending Rachel one bit! I'm just remembering the love we all had for Regan in the beginning, and now the poor fool has gone crazy. It's funny how people claim morals and values and whatnot, then get pigeon holed and don't realize their own behavior is to blame, or a factor, for what they don't like about their situation.
Regan, Britney and Kathy are falling victim to their own dislikes, if that makes sense. It's typical mid-season mentality though.

Ok, I have this DVR'd so I am behind. Ragan is ok trashing Rachel but he just said he is not ok with staying outside when he heard Rachel had some beers. So he can say anything he wants because he is so above them but she is wrong>?

Brendon only wanted huge competitors in the game and now he is falling on his sword for Rachel and asking to be evicted? He deserves to have the Brigade grab the sword and use it to cut off Rachel's head, she is gone!
A few weeks back it was Brendon & Rachel bashing Brittney behind her back when she was on the block. What goes around comes around. They deserve it. I cant stand them. Rachel is so gross and immature and the most jealous person I have ever seen. Brendon is just as bad. I agree with Brit, Everything about him bugs me. Even how he sips his wine. LOL
