Sunday Show Viewing Party
On the feeds right now, Janelle and Ashley are preparing some apple cobbler for Frank... Pardon me if I drool, but this is Serious Food Porn!
And back in TV land, it's Meltdown Sunday for the CBS Broadcast of Big Brother 14!!
It's time to rewind your minds, as tonight, the tv only people learn that Willie Hantz is gone. They'll also learn the noms. Can you imagine being that far behind? I can't.
I am very curious to see the Sunday Show edit. Will Willie get "don't bother sitting down" AG time, or will he be escorted out by big burly uniformed types? Will we get to see any of the State of the BB Union address that was doubtless delivered to the HGs by the producers? So many questions..
My thoughts Post Show.. I usually keep my opinions to myself, and just transcribe the HGs.. with a little bit of snark here and there for good measure. Tonight, I'm piping in.
Wow.. OK.. While they certainly did a great job building anticipation, the payoff just wasn't there. They had the footage. I can't fathom why they chose not to use it. What they did use was minimal and oddly angled..
I feel like I just had 55 minutes of great foreplay, capped off by 5 minutes of erectile dysfunction. My lingering thought.. How might things have turned out differently had they let him into the DR when he was pounding on the door, repeatedly? There was a cry for help, so to speak, and it wasn't answered. This didn't have to happen. They saw him seething. They heard his words. Willie is, of course, accountable for his own actions, but I don't believe he alone is culpable here.
Willie's descent was a direct result of Britney's sharing her and Janelle's belief that the Coaches would be entering the game. She shared this information to gain more trust from him, and cast more doubt upon Janelle, and while she was quite successful in turning Willie dead set against Janelle, that little piece of information fueled his paranoia, and led to the house meeting, which was his death knell as far as respect from the other HGs, minus his closest allies.
And the TV only people don't even get to know the Nominations?! Really?? Unbelievable. At least they showed the State of the BB Union..

@Tillman Girl You aren't alone! I actually really liked him too, I just think him being first HOH was an awful decision by Britney... not that she knew it at the time! I think, had he stayed, he would have added a great dynamic to the game (assuming he wasn't the one walking out the door Thursday)... but he really did screw his team by leaving.

So basically everyone who watches the live feeds or reads updates online is saying "There were four headbutts and at best, one was shown at a poor angle" while the tv only people and Willie fans say "he did nothing wrong to get kicked out of the house". Horrible editing all around.

I feel like Willie's entire fall is a direct result of things Britney has said/done: telling him the coaches were coming in, messing with his head about who to evict and further goading him once he was really angry. I like her, but she has nobody to blame for this but herself. I hope she quits moping and starts playing again

To me raising your fists to another man is violence, willie would most likely have been aggressive but not violent but when joe lifted his fists and pushed willie backwards willie had every right to defend himself. If willie is gone joe should be gone too. AGP and CBS continue their bias towards ratings not fairness.
So...I know violence will get you kicked out, but if you are the one being attacked and you fight back to protect yourself, do you get kicked out, too? That would seem unfair.

Totally agree about Britney's lack of leadership, Carolyn. I think she was trying to do some kind of tough love for a while but she totally abandoned her team member when he probably needed it most (not to excuse his behavior). She fanned the flames of his paranoia when she told him about her theory on the coaches getting back in and by maligning Janelle and her team because of what I feel was her jealousy of Janelle. Again, I'm not condoning his behavior - he was hell bent on self-evicting.
Not sure Britney was the best choice for Coach.
Jun (BB4) tweeted that they sign in their contracts that will not bait other HG into violence - so seems like Joe violated his contract.
Also, I don't get why everyone was crying - seems they all got what they wanted.

Your opinions reflect how many feel. I wish you could share them more often but it's understandable.
I miss Willie, period. Yes he was a volatile individual but they did invite him knowing that. I agree too that he was begging for help by pounding on the DR door but frankly I suspect AG wanted him out by then.
I feel that way because he did not bring the unicorn and bubbles theme the TV edits strive for.
I suggest CBS has AG tighten down the real life stuff in favor of a vanilla flavored viewing. They are editing for millions while the feeds, the real game, has fractional viewership by comparison. That is tightened down hard as well with the constant fishes but at least you get to the heart of the game between the fish breaks.
I know I am expecting too much from a network.

I actually liked seeing Britney stand up and take things in hand, telling Willie what's up--he did need to hear that, he did need to be told his actions were affecting those associated with him. BUT you did bring up a great point, in that Britney had a hand in setting him on that course. And YES I hadn't though of that...how would it have happened had they let him into the DR? He needed talking down, and was denied for the sake of what, TV drama?

My thoughts pre-viewing however? I am STILL upset by the lack of producers letting him in the DR, KNOWING full well he was snapping... I don't care if Frank was already in there or not.
And, I will not give Mr. Instigator or Mrs. Non-Supportive Coach my support this season or beyond.

The dynamics in the house has drastically changed from the first week.
I know it won't last long. They are playing for half a million dollars, after all, and have a loooooong way to go to grab it.
But, for today, it's been nice.
I haven't seen the show yet, and I am seeing posts that they may not have shown everything.
But I also believe that BB and others helped in Willie's melt down ... that is all ...

Thank you Carolyn! I think myself as well as others agree with you. We are all responsible for our own actions, but Willie needed a moment to decompress and BB did not allow him to do that. I also feel like when Joe threw up his fist that was a challenge to fight. Why are there no consequences for Joe?

Ok, people! Com'n. We're all playing 'coulda, shoulda, woulda' here.
Yes, Brit shouldn't have told Willie about the coaches entering the game theory, but she was simply playing the BB game. She's not a psychologist-how could she have known he was an 'inside psycho'?
A rational person, inside the BB house, would have taken that info, and kept it under the cuff, or used it to further his game and his team's game. Not try to rally the troops as tho he was in control of the whole game, just because he was HOH. I don't think he has a grasp of the BB game dynamics. At the time Britt told him this, he was still portraying himself as a sane, likable guy-heck-I was even beginning to root for him!
THEN, he blew up at Frank-not in private-RIGHT IN FRONT OF EVERYONE!
It was all downhill from there. I DO believe if he's had a stronger coach, say Boogie or Dan, they may have been able to corral him a bit; who knows? He certainly was NOT going to listen to Brit. Period.
As far as the run-in with Joe, a rational person would have NOT head-butted him. Willie had an agenda, and once he got it in his head, he simply couldn't stop the train from rolling on out of the house.
Too bad, too, cause I really thought he could have gotten far.
All he had to do to stop the train wreck, was to apologize, cool off, and go back to square one.
That's what a rational BB player does.

We think the people in the house have short memories we are all different. I don't think Willy was mocking Will Frank found something in his opinion and ran with it when the pot was stirred by Joe. Bullying goes 2 ways and I think Frank had remorse for his actions and was coming around just by his actions. Remember he was the only one other than Ian talking to Willy before his final blow up. People living with you ignoring you saying mean things when you can hear them 24 7 is hard to take for any of us with no where to go even if you deserve it or do you? If we had cameras 24 7 would things we say be misconstrued? I think he has a temper but I think 90% of us do but some of our favorite players do.are we really going to stay tuned to hiring people all summer with no plan or game play? I think he played that way to distance himself when he knew he was out and it went to far....bad game play for sure. His ego took over but heck it has to be pure crazy in there

I think what Willy did, minus the head butt, was mild compared to past fights.
Going all the way back to Janelle and Howie. They were huge bullies in season 6. Because people liked them more than the Nerd Herd people seem to forget how bad the personal attacks were and how long they went on, over 24 hrs straight.
Russel vs. Ronnie, Braden vs. Lydia and Kevin, Russel vs. Jeff there were three in one season alone and there are hundreds of examples more. Well dozens of examples, don't want to exaggerate like the hamsters. We don't even have to mention Evel Dick do we.
Fans of BB like the bullies, not saying Willy even was one, and this year it seems that you speak up and you'll be painted as one
I wonder how long this peace and harmony will last when the next person who doesn't get what they want goes on the attack against the perceived slight.

I totally agree with your thoughts on what happened. He should have been let in the DR before, but he wasn't. Not to mention that Joe wanted him to hit him. Also, there have been similar incidents, that did not cause the removal of the houseguest.

I have not read any of the other comments on this post, but I'm responding to Carolyn's blog post. First, how much do I love that you told us how you felt? And second of all, completely AGREE!! It is crazy how much was left out. LEGIT, it looked like they were both at fault and that they barely bumped chests. UNREAL! I had to rewind to make sure I saw what I saw. I understand they have to cut stuff out, but cut out the Ian/Ashley date. That was pointless and give us more of the real shiz. Now, who will come back in the game (or who will be new)?????? Dun, dun, dun ...
